Meet our sales horses
Frequently Asked Questions
-
From their first summer in pasture to their winters in group housing, our horses live in a social herd environment. We also practice pasture weaning, an approach that lets us separate mare and foal gently once the foal is independent and only minimally nursing (usually, at about eight months of age). By combining strategies like these with steady and positive human interaction, we believe KVS sport horses have a special (and great) start in life.

We typically start our horses as three-year-olds and teach skills gradually. After a year of part-time training, we step up training and start taking prospective sales horses to local schooling shows and competitions. By age five, our sales horses are training full-time, and attending competitions in Calgary and outside Alberta.
At every stage, we focus on positive experiences that set a strong foundation for their futures.

Please tell us about your skills, situation and goals! We sell young horses with top sport potential to professional stables and riders but also place young horses suited to amateur sport in great homes, so what you want and offer are important.
-
Because our horses are bred for sport from top bloodlines, our prices are typically at the top end of the price range for young show jumpers.
We avoid being more precise than this on our website because a lot of factors play into setting the price for a young horse. While some of these are static (for example, the quality of their bloodlines) others can change quickly. And additionally, we like to have some flexibility to consider the fit between a specific horse and a prospective buyer.

Yes, we collect and remit 5% GST on all sales to Canadian buyers.
Please note that if you’re a Canadian buyer from outside Alberta, you may have to self-declare and remit provincial sales tax in your province or territory.
Buyers from outside Canada must pay any customs fees or duties related to the sale but may be exempt from the 5% Goods and Services Tax levied in Alberta.
